Welcome to Michigan State University. To ensure you have the information you need to succeed, below you will find information regarding the New Faculty and Academic Staff Orientation Virtual Program. This orientation will: 1) acquaint you with Michigan State University; 2) identify the values, aspirations, and expectations of the university community; 3) introduce you to campus leaders; and 4) describe additional opportunities for engagement.
The 2021 New Faculty and Academic Staff Orientation has several parts:
- Online Program, August 17, 2021, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EST: This live online session will include discussion focusing on culture and context at MSU, diversity, equity and inclusion, academic tips for success, and technology overview (going beyond the information you will have learned in the information modules). This session will also include a virtual “meet and greet” for you to network with your deans, faculty excellence advocates, and other new members of your unit.
- Required/Recommended Modules for Orientation Completion: Details will be forthcoming on how you will access modules that will provide essential information to aid you in a successful transition to Michigan State University. This information will include helpful resources from several campus offices, as well as important policies and procedures. We request that you complete your review of these modules by August 31 , 2021.
- Virtual Information Fair: The Virtual Information Fair will provide you an opportunity to learn about many MSU offices and resources. Representatives from across campus will be available to answer questions in a discussion board format. MSU Federal Credit Union representatives will be available online to answer questions about banking, mortgages, and other financial matters. More details will follow in a subsequent email.
- Follow-Up Opportunities: Supplemental information on resources and upcoming orientation workshops will be shared on the New Faculty and Academic Staff Orientation page.
