Angela Wilson, 2018-19 AAN Leadership Fellow

Angela Wilson; 2018-19 AAN Leadership Fellow, 2019-20 Big Ten Academic Alliance Academic Leadership Program Fellow

Angela Wilson is John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. From 2016-2018, she served as Division Director (Head) of the Division of Chemistry at the National Science Foundation. Prior to that, she was Associate Vice Provost for Faculty at the University of North Texas (UNT), and served two years as a Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Provost. She founded and directed the Center for Advanced Scientific Computing and Modeling (CASCaM) at UNT, serving as director for over 12 years. During 2018-2019, she was a Fellow in the MSU Academic Advancement Network program in the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. She is currently Chair-Elect of the Chemistry Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Past-President of the Division of Physical and Biophysical Chemistry in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry.

Angela’s interest in the AAN Leadership Fellows program is to have the opportunity to get to know MSU quickly, as well as experience a part of a university that she has yet to experience from the inside – a dean’s office – and, from the perspective of an extraordinarily complex college.  This will help to provide greater insight in regards to future possible leadership directions.
